Jeanine Corcoran, broker for Corcoran Connect, interviews Dr. Renee Boccio as part of our local business spotlight. Jeanine started the interview by asking Dr. Renee Boccio how long she has been in the wellness field. Dr. Renee said she has owned a health and wellness business for over 22 years. She has been in New York for the first 20 years and is now in Saint Cloud Florida since December 2022. Jeanine commented that Dr. Renee has a story on why and how she got started in her business and asked her to share that story. Dr. Renee explained that when she was young, she was very sick and had chronic infections, and was morbidly obese. She explained that when she went to search for answers, the answers she received back didn’t work for her. Dr. Renee Boccio went on her own journey to search, going from the lowest of lows to things that helped her become healthy. Now, she can tailor it for other people. Dr. Renee took her wound, her depression, sickness, and sadness, and she turned it into a gift not just for herself but for other people. Dr. Renee lost 130 pounds during her health journey. Doctors used to tell her just lose weight, stop eating. She was like, yeah, no kidding she could see herself in the mirror. Dr. Renee explained that no one ever took the time with her to talk and figure it out to get to the root cause. Jeanine asked Dr. Renee to explain to the people listening more about who she is. She responded that she was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She is of Ukrainian descent and moved to Saint Cloud Florida in 2022. She followed her family out as they had already moved to the Melbourne, FL area. After Covid happened she decided that she wanted to be closer to her family, hence the move to St. Cloud. Dr. Renee started a health and wellness practice called “Welcome to Wellness” here in St. Cloud Florida. She stated that she loves working out, followed by well, not really but she knows how important it is for health. She loves spending time with animals, and she enjoys her work and helping people. Dr. Renee said her work is her passion, so it is not an effort for her, and she loves spending time with her husband. Jeanine then asked her what services she offers to her clients at Welcome To Wellness. Dr. Renee responded and said she is a Chiropractor without the crack. She explained she works with the body, and the nervous system, and helps people with pain. She said her focus is the nervous system. Dr. Renee said there are two parts to the nervous system. The one that is fight or flight that helps you hustle and get things done. Then we have the one that is the brake petal. This is the one that helps you rest and digest. It controls your breathing, your digestion, and your ability to heal your muscles and to be able to recover from activity. Even if you have a calm demeanor, the nervous system could be on edge. Dr. Renee said she sees this with a lot of children, especially children who show symptoms of ADD. They have very hyper nervous systems. She helps to bring them into balance. Dr. Renee said she doesn’t need to manipulate the spine and have that cracking sound. This is why she calls it chiropractic without the crack. She does muscle work and addresses tension. Dr. Renee also does Functional medicine and does blood testing, stool testing, and hormone testing to help find out what is the root cause of people’s symptoms.
